Residents Tax Exemption Info
The following exemptions were enacted locally and are applicable to Cranston residents only:

|Real estate exemption for persons 65 years of age or older:|
Qualifying persons must be 65 or older and reside in a dwelling of not more than 3 family units. Only one elderly exemption is allowed per household.
|Motor vehicle exemption for persons 65 years of age or older:|
Qualifying persons must be 65 or older and not own real estate. Persons 65 years of age or older are not eligible for both real estate and motor vehicle exemptions.
|Total disabled persons must be 100 percent disabled as determined by Social Security:|
An exemption on residential property is available to the disabled head of household. The total amount of exemption that one can receive cannot exceed eight thousand dollars.
|Total disabled persons not owning real estate are eligible for an exemption on their motor vehicle assessment.||--||$3,000|
